is it racist to highlight the parallels between Aishwarya and, now, Sandipan.

Parents with a child who, as it turns out, is already terminal.

Parents who are hugely upset because their child is sick.

Parents who plea for treatment and or blood tests.

Emotional parents with a foreign accent, possibly hard to understand, especially when laden with emotion.

Hospital staff with work enough for twice the staff.

Were the parents pleading? Or did it seem from a less emotional perspective that they were demanding. Demanding priority, non-medical parents demanding specific medical tests.

Medical staff already stressed. Perhaps unwilling to give full attention to an obviously difficult situation. There were many more patients to deal with. Less difficult parents, perhaps and from a triage view, just as urgent.

Is it racist to suggest that there may have been staff level problems but not staff problems. That a major problem was cultural. The difficulty of staff requiring composure at all times, with far too many patients, having to deal with emotional, possibly loud parents whose only concern, understandably, is with their own child.

I'd like to say that both medical staff and patients need to stay calm. to work together, to listen to each other. to respect and understand.

But of course that will never work in the hectic and stressful environment of medicine and sick children.

I'm glad it's not my problem.
