political popularity

Jenna Clarke (in The West 26 May) seems to believe that voters should punish a politician for being a ratbag. Well first, there's the politician and there's the party. Sure, we sell the polly on personality. Some voters, though, may support the party.

Then there's the problem itself. Assault on a female sex worker, apparently. You know, stuff that generates a call for empathy training. A quick cover-up because, really, who cares.

Voters are not idiots. They -- we -- understand:

The only politician with empathy, is the one who has yet to be caught.
