One dead plan

Many years ago, the government had(*) a plan. Joondalup would become a centre, a hub, for population, work and life.

Today, the latest freeway extension is opened. With the proud claim that it will cut travel time and connect people to jobs across the suburbs.

So much for being a hub.

Joondalup is now a dormitory suburb. Providing beds for the other suburbs, where the work actually happens.

Another grand plan, dead.

Should we check electoral rolls? to make sure that other dead people have been removed.

Are there any other long dead people that we can definitely claim would vote yes or no.

banksia fix

it's time to fix the juvenile detention centre at banksia Hill.

here's how it will work.

1. anyone who has an opinion will spend two weeks as a full time employee. Full shifts of thug management. Kissing the little darlings goodnight. Dealing with their psychosis fuelled tantrums.

2. followed by two weeks documenting their suggested solutions. another two weeks to work up a budget.

3. Followed by four weeks as again, employees. With full authority to implement their solutions.

4. allow a month for mental and physical recovery.

and to rework their solutions.

Then repeat from 1.

The problems will not be solved.

at least some idiots may recognise that the problems begin long before the youth arrives at Banksia

The RBA board met in Perth. While here, they shouted a free meal for the rich and powerful.

It's important that the RBA board.. get out and mix. And hear from community leaders.

Really?

These "community leaders" are so self centred. They will not give an opinion unless bribed. They talk only when bribed and drunk.

Really?

They don't already pay for people to lobby on their behalf?

Do you really want to hear the opinions of the rich and powerful? Read your e-mails. Answer your phones.

That is, if you are also rich and powerful.

For the rest of us... just shut up and starve.

No one wants to hear from the poor and powerless.

another hotel not as expected

a absolutely not what i was expecting. Of that good or bad? we won't know until we see our room, we arrived too early to check in.

But after the drive in... we have no urge to drive out for dinner.

stupid google

i wonder. can even google be so stupid?

im in google maps. getting directions for todays drive from chambers to croft cottage. i think, no wifi on the way so may as well use gmaps offline.

except.

i select the map area to download -- and there is no search function. i have to push a rectangle round the display. hoping to find recognisable points.

i can see reading, we are near reading. okay.

we will drive to a small village near wells. my geography is not that good, i cant find wells.

eventually i select an area perhaps ten times what i need. i suspect that wells is inside that area. i dont know if our cottage is in the download area.

i guess well find out. when we have no wifi... are terribly lost... and try to do a proper search.

whats wrong with this:

search,

get directions,

download the *displayed* map area. which definitely inludes all of the relevant area.

google maps download. software developed and never tested in a real situation :-(

i see that coronation organisers are having trouble planning around mad Prince Harry. he won't tell anyone what he actually plans to do. well no wonder.

First he has to get permission from Meghan. she has to ask Oprah. they all need to arrange for camera crews and Ghost writers.

Harry can't tell anyone what he plans to do. not until Meghan and Oprah tell him.
