seriously weird in a town within reach of Israeli bombers, a woman is woken up by bombs falling through her home.

she survives, other family members are killed. By morning, her home is a pile of unliveable rubble.

Meanwhile, in WA, A boy is unhappy. He claims adhd and several other hard to disprove psycho problems

and so, because he is "not happy" turning up at a standard school -- he claims discrimination.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent to remove this discrimination.

What a seriously stupid world we live in.

two too late

the manager of an IVF clinic who just resigned;

he resigned two embryos too late :-) There is no acceptable way to remove even one implanted embryo.

I hope that other IVF clinics improve their management and processes before it is too late.

Various people give their arguments for and against a major bare-knuckle battle in Perth.

All of the reasons boil down to potential injuries to the willing participants.

A more serious risk is that it demonstrates a simple approach to domestic violence. With no need to go to the trouble of finding a weapon.

Pheobe

In a small town pop. 1100 everyone is shattered when Pheobe is allegedly murdered by her housemates. Her family is, understandably "torn apart".

What happened *before* the alleged murder.

Did no one notice? Did no-one care? that a 16 y-o girl  was sharing a house with a man and a woman each more than twice her age. The man with a history of firearm offences.

Were the parents concerned? Why was a 16 y.o girl living in a small town but not at living home? And about to fly across Australia -- by herself.

We have no facts. But it seems to me that there was already a lot of trouble. Which ended in the final tragedy.

Congratulations to John Carey.

He has finally succeeded in destroying an A-Class Reserve.

To be blunt: each kid will be there for a few months at most. Unconscious for much of that time.

Perhaps they would have preferred a view of the constantly moving, constantly interesting ocean.

Which would allow the carpark area to be used for the hospice building.

But no. Carey has his heart set on destruction.

An expression of his own power as a non-listening politician.

Many years ago, teaching was a respected profession.

Public attitude has now pushed respect for teaching to below that of car and real estate sellers.

Now teachers are seen as being less than politicians... with the bonus that both students and parents are allowed to physically attack teachers -- with no penalty.

Why would anyone teach?

the editorial refers to the defeat of the voice referendum.

this is rubbish.

all Australians --blak and whyt -- were asked if they wanted to destroy democracy in Australia.

the answer was a clear support for democracy: one person, one vote.

the editor may prefer some form of race-based dictatorship.

the majority of us prefer a democracy.

there was no defeat. just a clear statement of what is wanted -- by the democratic majority.

the real people of Australia

why is the arrest of a criminal in Bali headlined as a "drama"?

a man plans a crime. commits the crime, is arrested and sentenced. 

he claims he was ordered to do it. it never crossed his mind to get police involved?

For humanitarian reasons I hope that his compulsory death sentence is quick and painless.

other than that --there is no drama. just another stupid crim out of circulation.

so too does bare-knuckle and cage fighting.which the government pays to operate in WA.

plenty of people find deliberate violence to be entertaining.

too many lawyers

a review into an enquiry into the death of a child in hospital (sandipan.)

questions are raised: was there bias because the reviewer was friends with the enquirer?

we are far too used to these reviews etc being done, by lawyers: people who will support only the side which pays them.

we are now unable to believe that a person may honestly represent what they believe to be the truth. without being paid for that belief.

coercive control may be the root cause of the Floreat murders. It is only part of the problem.

Ariel Bombara did her best to prevent a crime. She may not have realised just how serious the crime would be. Ariel warned the police. That was the best, the only, action she could take.

and then the police -- by our long-established laws -- were not *allowed* to take any action.

Police can act only when a crime has been committed.

Before crime, police action is severely limited.

we need to give police power to act in prevention of crime. yes, police state, I hear you cry.

we need to give police power to act to prevent crime.power which does not evolve into a police state.

I like to use exactly the right word or phrase Though I expect that most readers read the meaning and don't care about weak phrasing.

In the paper today an Opinion writer offered his "sincere condolences".

Why the word "sincere"? If the condolences were sincere, why double-up on the sincerity?

If the condolences were *not* sincere, why mention them in the first place?

productivity

the editorialof 20 May

 blames anything and everything for a "productivity slump".

a business may take an action, or buy an asset, worth $100. then they do everything possible to spend twice as much on that action or asset. the extra $100 is claimed as a tax deduction.

the government encourages this actual loss of productivity with a discount to payable taxes.

in reality it is extra cost which -- in the arithmetic of accounting -- has doubled cost and halved productivity.

both government and business encourage over-spending -- in the name of gaining tax deductions.

this is why actual productivity continues to "slump".

Joel Cauchi took weapons to a NSW shopping centre

where he stabbed and killed several people.

Pre-meditated murder.

He was then killed, good. Now there are arguments over, why.

Was he psychotic?

A woman hater?

Drunk or drugged?

Having a bad day?

Who cares: he killed people and now he is dead. Good riddance.

Do we -- society -- really want to live with killers in our midst?

he is(was) . guilty of murder. 

If he had survived I would say -- . Now take him out and shoot him.

The "why" is important to help prevent other nutters from becoming killers.

Cauchi has proven that he can -- and has -- killed innocent shoppers Without (or even with) a clear "why" he is a continuing threat.

Now we remove him from society. Quickly and permanently.

Either that or we accept that any one of us could be killed at any time.

the Libs have elected a new party leader.

Voting has barely closed when party members call for the party room to unite behind the new leader.
